Revelers brave the cold to take in the vibes at the 7th staging of the annual Xmas Bash
hosted by the Excelsior Alumni Association of Florida
Neither the unexpected snow storm blanketing the Northeast, nor the unseasonal chill in South Florida, could cool the vibes of Xmas Bash 2009 on Saturday December 19, 2009.
More than 400 revelers, many of them refugees from the cold and ice, squeezed into Greater Ball Room of Sunrise to dance to the great music played by Mark Swaby at the annual Xmas Bash hosted by the Excelsior Alumni Association of Florida.
From Australia, Iraq, the United Kingdom, North America to Jamaica and other points around the globe, Excelsorians who could not attend were able to follow the party virtually via a live internet stream.
Misgivings about how the event would unfold in a new venue proved misplaced as alumni, friends and supporters gathered in the exquisitely decorated hall, awash in Excelsior’s green and gold school colors to celebrate the 7th staging of the event.

Joined by a good representation of alumni from various other Jamaican High schools, The Florida chapter paid special tribute to former president Pamella Watson during the function for yeoman service to the Alumni Association and the South Florida community.
Jean Tyson was the lucky winner of the door prize of a pair of airline tickets courtesy of Air Jamaica, one of several sponsors who helped to underwrite the event.
Even though alumni have left the dance floor in South Florida, echoes of Xmas Bash 2009 are still being felt and talked about throughout the alumni community. They are already chomping at the bit to replay the experience at the Merritone, MLK, & Memories fund raiser due in New York on Saturday, January 23, 2010.
Alumni also are already making plans to return to Florida for the 8th staging of the annual Xmas Bash on Saturday December 11, 2010. |
