Owen Blakka Ellis
After many false starts, yet another move is afoot to revive the long dormant Excelsior School Alumni Association of Ontario. Owen Blakka Ellis is helping to spearhead the effort.
He will host the GRAND REUNION DANCE & DINNER, Friday, August 21, 2009 in the west Toronto-area suburb of Mississauga, Ontario to anchor the new membership drive for the Association..
According to Blakka, the time has come for him and his peers to take the baton from the cadre of alumni who have kept the third North American Chapter going-if in name only-for some time. It is an effort endorsed by Charles Chambers, the current Treasurer of the Toronto chapter.

A core group of the Toronto-based alumni, including Mindell Senior-Morris, Horace Stewart, Flavia Harriott, Allan "Bucka" Jones, Ekua Lois Blair, and others, will meet with Blakka this Thursday June 4 at 6:30pm (at a location to be announced soon, in the Eastern end of the GTA) to set up an ad hoc committee to help get more support and kick start the membership drive.
"The Toronto chapter has been dormant because of "burn-out" among the dedicated stalwarts who have been the engine for a long time. Now we are trying to facilitate a revival and renewal starting with this event" explained Blakka. "People are already booking tickets to come in from New York, New Jersey and Jamaica for the event I'm putting together".
