Chrisptopher Honeywell, President
Excelsior Past Students Association.
Students of Excelsior will return to school on Monday October 5, 2009 to a virtually new Science Laboratory courtesy of the Excelsior Past Students Association.
The EPSA and the Digicel Foundation will officially hand over the renovated Science laboratories to the school at a re-opening ceremony slated for Friday October 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
Completion of the science lab project, the major legacy of the 75th Anniversary celebration in 2006, had long been stymied by funding issues and various other technical matters. However, the project received a welcome shot in the arm earlier this year when the Digicel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of telecommunication providers Digicel, presented EPSA President Christopher Honeywell with a check for J$8million at the Founder's Day Brunch in January to help with completion of the project.

Despite encountering other unforeseen snags, the EPSA was determined that there be no further delay to students gaining access to the science laboratories. Finishing touches were only applied on Tuesday September 29, 2009. The labs have been closed since February 2009 to allow for completion of the phased renovation project.
Friday’s ceremony will cap the fulfillment of a dream some three years in the making. |
