Passing  Of  A  Pioneer

Pioneer student Enid Powell-Ennis, among the first batch of Excelsorians when the school was launched in 1931, has died at age 93 in Sunrise, Florida.

 

Mrs. Enid Powell-Ennis, was born February 11, 1913, the fourth child of Pastor Samuel Uriah Powell, on whose verandah the inaugural group of Excelsior students received their first intruction.

She was born in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. and died on Saturday, February 3, 2007.

                                                                                                                         

The deceased, a younger sister of Founder Hon. A.W.Powell, had migrated to New York in the early Fifties and worshipped at the   Hanson Place Seventh Day in Brooklyn.She subsequently relocated to Florida, where she spent the last 20 years of her life.  Enid (L), Great-grandson Shane Slack and sister Edna Powell

 

Mrs. Powell-Ennis is survived by younger sister Ms. Edna(Beryl) Powell, the former secretary of Excelsior, among other relatives.

The Alumni Association joins with the rest of the Excelsior family in extending deepest condolences to the family of Mrs. Powell-Ennis.
