A view of the gleaming interior of the freshly renovated science laboratories.
A little less than two weeks after the reopening of the first phase of the renovated science block and the Excelsior Past Students Association is already trumpeting the securing of new donations to help with completion of the other phases of the project.

On October 14, 2009 The Grace Kennedy Foundation approved a grant in the amount of J$655,000.00 for the purchase of equipment for the Science Laboratories. The grant which had been in the pipeline following ongoing negotiations finally came to fruition this week.
The maximum that the Grace Foundation normally approves per project is J$600,000.00. However, the Foundation board was fulsome in its praise for the management of the entire renovation project and the finished product so decided to approve the additional amounts.
It is understood that the Foundation board stated that it was commendable that the Excelsior Past Students Association had executed this project like a business and admired the techniques and professional manner by which the Association went about raising funds for the project. The Association is now in the process of sourcing the requisite equipment.
The Science Lab project was launched in early 2006 as part of the school’s 75th Anniversary commemoration. |
