There were more accolades for the Manning Cup football team as it copped four post-season awards at a recent presentation at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston.
Memories of a season that ended in the disappointment of losing in the Manning Cup finals were made more palatable as the boys’ Lebert Halliman football team received four trophies at the Manning Cup presentation:
- Zone Winners Preliminary
- Zone Winners Quarter Finals
- 2nd in Manning Cup
- Violence Prevention Alliance Trophy
Trophies were awarded to the best-prepared team, the team with the best behavior on and off the field, as well as the team with the most disciplined supporters. Likewise, the team also received an award for being Mentors for Violence Prevention.
In addition, the Lebert Halliman-coached team- which had defied all expectations by advancing to the finals of the competition, where it lost to Bridgeport High- did not leave the season empty handed.
It also walked away with a total of J$100,000 in prize money.
With the latest awards, Excelsior’s Manning Cup team has won every available accolade over the last five years.
