Our Mission
We are a cadre of dedicated Alumni committed to the mission of expanding educational opportunities for our youth in Jamaica, W.I. as well as in our local communities. Our Alma Mater, Excelsior High School is the fulcrum of our mission of having a positive impact, through improved educational opportunities for our youth. We aim to have a positive impact on the lives of this, and succeeding generations of Excelsorians.
Our Vision
Our vision is to continue to be one of the most vibrant Alumni organizations in the New York metropolitan area, cultivating the academic, material, social, emotional and psychological development of our youth and to remain a sterling example of excellence among other Alumni Associations.
Association Profile
The Excelsior Alumni Association (USA) Inc., a not-for-profit organization was established in 1969. The genesis of the organization was a group of past students, who had immigrated to the Tri-state area or who were at universities in the region, who were determined to give back something to the institution that had played a pivotal role in their development.
What started as a reunion of some school friends, soon evolved into a structured organization when it became apparent that the lofty reputation of the school was at stake. This was so because the deteriorating infrastructure threatened the school's ability to deliver quality education to it's students. Financial, material and other resources were required to restore Excelsior to it's rightful place at the forefront of education in Jamaica.
These issues have emerged as the raison d'etre of our existence.
