Add Merritone, MLK & Memories set for New York Saturday, January 23, 2010, the weekend after the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, to a jam-packed calendar of Excelsior related bashes that will unfold over the coming months.
Regardless of the season-Spring Summer, Fall or Winter-in Jamaica or overseas, wherever Excelsior alumni reside, it is guaranteed there is a chance for the fraternity to come together to extend the shared good times of the past.
With events scheduled for Toronto, Jamaica, Florida, and New York over the next several weeks, alumni will have ample opportunities to assemble to pay homage to their Alma Mater.
Now that the Excelsior Alumni Association, (USA) Inc.'s 40th Annniversary Gala is history, word from Jamaica is that the Excelsior Adopt-A-Block Committee has its annual Yestayearz- The All-White Retro-Party set for Saturday, November 28 at Cuddyz in New Kingston. Then alumni take a trip north to gather at the resurgent Toronto Chapter’s Laff & Nyam fund raiser at Sydney's Island Restaurant in Mississauga, Ont., on Sunday December 6, 2009.
They will then take take a breather before heading South where the warmth of Florida will welcome alumni for the Florida’s Chapter’s annual Xmas Bash at the Greater Ballroom of Sunrise Saturday, December 19, 2009 in Sunrise, Fla.
Then it is back to New York where the inaugural Merritone, MLK & Memories at Chef's Orchid at JFK, Queens, NY, will bookend the formal 40th Anniversary celebrations that began with the annual Summer Bash in June and continued with the just concluded Dinner Dance and Awards function in October to mark the Association's founding some four decades ago.
The various bashes are fund raisers aimed at underwriting the development of educational programs and myriad other projects at Excelsior High School. |
